Dante

I’ve had a long time fascination with the story of Dante Alighieri’s Divine Comedy. First introduced to me through the 2010 video game Dante’s Inferno, on the PSP. Till date stays as one of my all time favourite games and story lines. It’s been among one of my most influential topics that I like to explore in art.

These designs are a part of a series of explorations I have been working on as my own interpretation of some of the themes from the book; but in a dark fantasy setting.

Here I explore Dante as a Crusader (A White Guelph) before he was exiled from Florence. Following which he wrote the Trilogy.
During the process I decided to design the latter half of his life (as a Poet) into a mage-like character to contrast the design and persona of the soldier.

There is more to come in this series, where I explore the 7 deadly sins as characters. Hope you all like it!
